A Cool Piece History 

Issued Mailing A Letter Was Twenty Cents 

Smokey The Bear (Character) 

Was Created 9 August 1944

When The U.S. Forest Service And 

The American Advertising Council Agreed 

That A Fictional Animal Should Be Picked 

And Placed On Awareness Posters And Ads

A Bear Won Out Over The Other Suggestions.

This Was A Joint Effort To Wake People Up 

About Fire Prevention, On National Parks,

As Well As The Forest Lands.

Alerting The General Public Of Events Occurring 

With Their Normal Careless Activities

Artist Albert Staehle Was Selected. 

The First Phrase Was "Care Will Prevent 

9 Out Of 10 Fires. Carrying The Image 

The First Of Many Smokey's 

In 1947, The Famous Line Was Composed And Used,

"Only You Can Prevent Forest Fires".

Then In The Spring Of 1950, 

The Real Thing Happen In The Mountains

Of New Mexico After A Fire... 

A Young Bear Cub Was Found 

Badly Burned (Clinging To A Tree) Or (Hiding In A Tree), 

Depending On The Version Sourced,

 By Fire Fighters And Called Him Smokey. 

The First Smokey Died In 1975

And Second Was Found Lived Til 1990 

Over And Out 

The Stamp Was Captured Under Natural Light 

Mastered, Modified, And Manipulated 

Through Photo Graphic Engineering 

Completed By Maneuvering The Created Elements 

To Complete The Final Result 

During Post Lab In New York City
